Now, a court filing has suggested the 21-year-old's superiors had raised concerns internally on multiple occasions about his handling or viewing of classified information. Some showed real-time details of Ukraine's and Russia's battlefield positions from February and March, precise numbers of battlefield gear lost, and the amount flowing in from allies. The files appeared to detail US and NATO aid to Ukraine and US intelligence assessments regarding allies that could strain ties with those nations. Last month Jack Teixeira was making headlines around the world as the US airman who was charged with leaking highly classified military documents on the social media platform Discord. "Prigozhin also accused unnamed officials of being apathetic about Russian deaths on the frontlines and sarcastically stated that the future Russian defence minister has been in Bakhmut for over a week when responding to a question asking if Shoigu had accepted his invitation to visit the Bakhmut frontline." "Prigozhin stated that he is ready to take on the 'bureaucrats' and accused them of attempting to gain more authority while using Wagner to fight the war," the ISW added. The siloviki are also likely attempting to signal to Mr Prigozhin that he must "cease his political ambitions in Russia" but have been unsuccessful in their attempts to"scare him into obedience". "The channel noted that Prigozhin still has contact with Putin’s administration via Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino and noted that Prigozhin's fate lies entirely in Putin's hands," it added. The ISW found one Telegram channel noted Mr Prigozhin is "losing contact with Chairperson of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and had a fight with First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergey Kiriyenko who originally supported his initiatives". Russian officials affiliated with the mercenary leader are being intimidated by Moscow's strongmen, also known as the siloviki, to discourage their cooperation with the group, it said. I would imagine the Wood Storks think the same of their hatchlings. In our previous post, we gave you an update from the Institute for the Study of War which spoke about Ukraine's take on a potential Kherson offensive.īut the US thinktank also gave an update on the situation surrounding Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin in Russia. If he’s anything but the most beautiful baby I wouldn’t know. It works and the bird majestically takes a slightly altered flight line. I’m just superstitious and on this particular day as the white and black bird glides over the pines and nears my lawn, my soon-to-be parent instinct leads to my maniacal “nooooooooooooooooooooooo”. I can’t help but point one out every time I see one. Although younger storks retain a slightly feathered head, “stork-patterned baldness” sets in upon adulthood, providing an easier feeding experience as they dunk their smooth, domed heads in the water to seek prey. Up close they have a face that looks like a vulture. On approach they drop down their landing gear, a pair of thin, sturdy legs that reminds me of the wheels on a plane. In the air they are remarkably elegant, using long, broad wings to soar on thermal updrafts and swoop in to marshes and swamps. If they can’t find food, they don’t nest and if the season goes sour they may abandon a nest. To raise two chicks they require nearly 450 pounds of food throughout the nesting season. Too much water and the same dietary cast of characters can easily disperse, making it tough to for nesting parents to capture enough food to feed themselves, let alone their young. Too little water and their diet of fish, frogs and invertebrates may dry up. The Wood Stork is an opportunistic nester. ![]() ![]() Everyone knows that the White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) brings babies and pickles, but the bald, black-headed, wrinkle-skinned Wood Stork brings ugly babies and my wife was due in two weeks. It’s generally considered bad behavior to scream at birds and yet there I was flailing my arms and yelling at an endangered Wood Stork (Mycteria americana) who was gracefully flying near my home.
